From A Night of Horror fest alumni Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead comes the highly anticipated THE ENDLESS, now screening in Australia at:
SCREENING AT: CINEMA NOVA (Melbourne) and Event Cinemas George St (Sydney) FROM 22 MARCH and Cinema Paradiso (Perth) from 29 MARCH.
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have quietly made a name for themselves writing and directing unnerving, adventurous and genre-confounding horror films (RESOLUTION, SPRINGS), and with their third collaboration THE ENDLESS they turn their idiosyncratic gaze onto the experience of growing up in a cult.
When brothers Justin and Aaron (played by the directors themselves) were children, their mother died in a car accident and they were taken in and raised by a collectivist commune of apparently mild- mannered beer makers with ‘interesting’ beliefs. As they grew older, Justin eventually rebelled and left the commune, dragging Aaron with him, and their highly publicised ‘escape from the UFO death cult’ has since dominated their lives.
When the brothers receive a cryptic message on a video tape from one of the members of the commune, they decide their return could be a means of giving the earlier portion of their lives a sense of closure. But something is wrong within the commune; the smiles of the members seem forced, there’s unexplained phenomena constantly occurring around the camp and everyone is anticipating a momentous event: The Ascension.
